Home Based Internet Marketing Business – Steps to Going Live – Step 9, Create Your Welcome Message
Autoresponder systems are really a way for you to communicate with your customers and prospective customers…the people on your list. The purpose of these emails is to build a relationship with your list and ultimately that is how to make money online. This is another key step for home based internet marketing businesses to get up and running.
For now, just focus on the welcome message-the message someone will get as soon as they sign up on your website. Once you have created your first message you will see how easy it is and you can add more messages to create a series.
Login to your autoresponder service, I suggest NinjaResponder or AWeber. If you are using a different system the thought process is pretty much the same but some of the wording may be different.
Make sure that you are working with the correct list. If you are new to internet marketing you probably only have one list, so that makes it easy!
Look for the “messages” tab.
There you will see two options-follow up messages and broadcast messages.
Select follow up messages because you want this welcome message to go to new subscribers when they first sign up for your list. It won’t matter if they sign up tomorrow, a month from now or a year from now, the new sign up will get this message.
Click Add Message and now you are ready to start your welcome message!
Subject: I normally say something pretty simple like “Welcome to (the name of your website)”
Message: there will be two options for you, one is to write your message in the HTML box, the other is the plain text box. Plain text is something that everybody can see, so I suggest you create your message in the plain text box and just leave the HTML box empty.
Start with a greeting: it could be “Hi”, “Hello” or even “Yo!”…pick a style that fits you and your niche.
I suggest you personalize the message with the subscriber’s name. You can do that because they put their name in the opt-in box when they signed up. To do that click the Personalize link and from the choices I suggest you select the option {!firstname_fix} then have a comma after that bracket.
The body: write a simple message that is appropriate for your niche and site. Give them your name and thank them for signing up. Also give them a link to your website and let them know you will be sending them emails from time to time with updates or important tips… whatever it is you plan on.
Remember to sign your email, using a closing that is, again appropriate for the feel of your site.
Tip: You will have the option of “tracking clicks”. Tracking clicks can make the link look funny, so for this first message I prefer to leave it unchecked.
Click Save and you have created your first message which will be sent to new subscribers as soon as people sign up on your website. Now you have a website up and you are building a list and you are communicating with the people on your list. That means your home based internet marketing businesses are actually in business!
