Do not be Hyper: Enthusiasm is good, but too much of enthusiasm may look like desperation. Not everyone shares everyone’s passion for the good life and to earn money. And in no circumstances should you hound a person for the MLM opportunity.

Have an Open Ended Conversation: Nothing impresses a person like the ‘Call me if interested’ line. It also creates an atmosphere of a very confident person showing a plan to a very intelligent decision maker.

These and other suggestions will ensure that you have a successful time prospecting your client in the cold market. However, you should remember the one important thing you need to prospect successfully in the cold market – confidence.

For your network marketing success you need to understand some basics about human beings. Remember, network marketing is not a sales business; it is relationship marketing. Unfortunately, most network marketing companies fail to teach these basics in training, and their distributors are left struggling.

First, you must understand yourself and your patterns of thinking. Second, for success in prospecting, especially long distance, you must be able to spot your prospect’s pattern of thinking and find his “hot buttons.” Third, you must understand that your prospects’ patterns of thinking may be completely different than yours.

Your network marketing success depends upon understanding the four major personality types. You need to speak your prospect’s language, not your own, and you can discover a prospect’s personality type by listening and by asking the right questions.

What turns you on may be turning your prospect off!

For example, let’s talk about the “blues.” They make up 15% of the population, and they are open and direct. They talk too much, they volunteer more information than necessary, they like to have fun, they see the big picture, and most importantly, they don’t like details and numbers. Finally, they have difficulty in focusing on one task, and you may think they have a little bit of ADHD. More “blues” join network marketing than any other personality type. If you are a “blue,” you need to learn to shut your mouth and stop interrupting your prospect; you must learn to listen, and you must learn to focus on your tasks. In contrast, when you sponsor a “blue,” you need to teach him how to listen and how to focus in order to succeed in network marketing.

When you prospect a “blue,” let him talk, and tell him about the trip you won and the fun you have with your team in network marketing. Do not give him details. Make sure you follow up closely with him, but send him short and sweet e-mails. If you make the mistake of sending long, detailed e-mails to your blue prospect, he will block your e-mails, and he will screen his phone calls and never pick up.

Let’s talk about the “yellows.” They make up 30% of the population, and they are open and indirect. They are soft spoken, they are the super nice people, and they are very sensitive. They don’t like pushy aggressive people. When your prospect a “yellow”, do not talk about money, and tell him how this business will allow him to be with his family and loved ones, and how your products are helping people with their health and wealth. Dare to focus on the money with them and you lost them forever.

Network marketing is a system in which marketing messages are transmitted through a network of distributors. Each person in the network is a marketer who attempts to find customers as well as other network marketers to expand the marketing net.

The compensation system in the network marketing is such that a network marketer earns not only from sales initiated by him but also from sales brought in by his sponsored network marketers. Therefore the sponsor has a vested interest to see that his sponsored networkers perform well.

2.Build a Rapport. Building a rapport is the basic prospecting principle. This opens up the prospect and establishes a channel of communication. Present yourself as a friend and not as a salesman.

3.Understand What Motivates the Prospect. Any prospect will be inclined to join network marketing business only in the hope of meeting his unfulfilled desires. He may be looking for financial security, additional income, freedom from daily grind, business ownership and so on. While communicating with your prospect you should try and understand rather quickly what he is looking for and what motivates him. When you focus on your prospect rather than on your business you are in a better frame of mind to get this information.

4.Listen to Your Prospect. It is important to listen to the prospect in order to understand him. As a general rule you should allow your prospect to speak for more than three-fourth of the time.

5.Ask Open-Ended Questions. This is a way to encourage your prospect to speak. Without being offensive you can ask open-ended questions to keep the interaction going, such as why, what, where, when. Your prospect will feel more involved.

6.Match Expectations of the Prospect to Your Offer. Ask yourself honestly this question. Can your offer be used to satisfy the expectations of the prospect? If yes, then you may be on the right track. Just show the prospect how your program is going to help him.

7.Respect the Decision of the Prospect. The prospect will make decisions based on his reasons, not yours. There is no point in trying to force your decision on him. Respect his decisions and you will remain friends even if he does not join you immediately.

8.Build Credibility. Be honest, whatever may be the outcome of your interaction. Your prospect should develop faith in you and trust you to help him in growing his business.

9.Contact the Prospect Frequently. If a prospect is non-committal or even if he says no first time it does not necessarily mean no. He may later decide to join you provided you remain in contact with him. This is particularly true in email marketing where prospects are convinced enough to join the program only after being reminded several times.

Abc Rule of MLM Prospecting

Most people start off their MLM/ Network Marketing business by prospecting their friends and family. These people, no doubt trust you the most, but they are also the hardest prospect you will get.

Without proper handling of your appointment with them, you can forget about recruiting them to your network. This is because friends tend to be more judgmental of you, and they view you as an equal, therefore it is not easy opening them up to listen to you. During the presentation, some may joke, and are not serious in the presentation, some may also give you objections before you start your presentation.

Therefore, as a new comer to the industry, it is good to have your upline who is willing to help you in your first few appointments with your friends. They are the best people to leverage upon.

You need to practice the rule of ABC during presentations when your upline is helping you. ABC

A- Advisor (your upline)

B- Bridge (you)

C- Customer (your prospect/ friend)

It’s your job to bridge the gap between your friend and your upline. Give background about your friend to your upline, and let your friend know why you respect this upline so much. During the presentation, you should sit by your friend, giving support through out the presentation.

You should always be around during such presentation to show respect to your upline and friend. Try not to give advice and “try to help” your upline, during the presentation, this will undermine your upline’s authority. Just sit there and agree to what he says is the best help you can give.

You will be the one closing your friend to join you in the business, not your upline. Give moral support to your friend and assure him that joining you will be the right choice. You should also be doing problem solving if your friend is reluctant or indecisive. Give support as a friend, so you won’t be too aggressive or pushy. It’s not worth losing a friend over this.
