Internet Marketing Basics ? 3 Major Components

Product marketing has forever changed since the dawn of the web era. For that, there are simple instructions that anyone must follow if they are to understand how success is reached. Internet Marketing Basics can be divided into 3 major components: Market Research, Search Engines, and E-Advertising (electronic magazines and email).

Any successful business will tell you that their victories were a result of being in the right place at the right time. That is the very goal of market research. Without doing your homework, your success will be completely based on luck, which is a dangerous route when you are talking about spending large amounts time and sometimes money. The first step is picking your target market and then figuring out in what manner you will attempt to reel them in. One of the Internet Marketing Basics is knowing the right things to say to your audience and to what value.

Though not the final say on whether or not a business is present in the scene, search engines have been one of the most well-known Internet Marketing Basics. This can be split into two regions: search directories and pay-per-click (PPC). Main search engines are considered a directory and it usually takes time for your link to even make it on, but the cost is relatively inexpensive. Pay-per-click is a more efficient way to market your business, but can cost you much more over time.

E-Zines (article marketing) tend to be the most effective marketing path for your budget. Two methods are worthy of mentioning: solo ads and top-line ads. The first includes only your ad being sent to a newsletter list whereas the latter shows your ad at the top or bottom of the newsletter itself. Obviously, the solo ad will cost you a greater price. The most popular form of article marketing is to submit your article to many Article Directories. It will take about a week, but then your article will appear in the search engines. There is no cost to this form of marketing. Yet, to be successful, you must submit on a regular basis.

Email campaigns are a great way to reach a targeted audience. Extremely careful planning is a must, though, because the way you go about it will determine whether the target responds positively or turns against your product. Still, there are other ways of using email, such as an opt-in or newsletters.

It is critical in any form of these Internet Marketing Basics that one avoids getting scammed. Attention to detail and well planned procedures go a long way. Now is the time to go digital. Follow these principles that have been discussed and you will be well on your way to becoming a success using Internet Marketing Basics.

Whenever I produce my mlm success training courses, I always tell my apprentices to make structured commitments and goals by organizing their daily, weekly, and monthly income producing activities, and make sure to track EVERYTHING.

One of my acquaintances on Facebook asked me to assist them to identify why their best efforts seem to be producing very little success in MLM. He was quite angry and ready to toss in the towel by the time he reached out to me.

He is new to MLM, and felt as though he was doing everything that he was told to do to get ahead. He thought that either he was being lied to by his support team (or he wasn’t), or he simply wasn’t cut out for this MLM business (also not true).

So, in the course of our conversation, I was able to determine exactly what was wrong with his efforts, and after I identified where his “holes” were, he was overjoyed to find out that all he had to do was make a few adjustments to his activities and his mental state of mind.

Take a look at these 3 areas that I found that he was doing wrong and make sure that you don’t fall into these traps:

1. Overstated expectations of growth – he felt that he would be an “overnight sensation” because he’s heard stories of how people make tons of revenue in what seems like a very small period of time. This is NOT normal of ANY business, contrary to all the hype. Building a successful MLM business is like planting a seed in the dirt; you can’t plant the seed and then stand over it demanding that it grow. It has to take root, and you have to provide the food and care to make sure it doesn’t die in the soil. It’s not smart to have the get-rich-quick mindset; it takes TIME to build a successful company, and there’s nothing you can do about that but cultivate patience and the right behaviors.

2. Inconsistent activity – he had not developed a schedule of planned activities for his network marketing business success. He just did whatever he could with whatever extra time he could come up with. That’s totally amateurish. Developing “office hours” is pivotal to building consistency, and that can’t be taken lightly. He planted the “seed,” now he needed to organize a regularly scheduled “watering.” If over the course of a week you only have 7-10 hours available, that needs to be a specific, targeted, pre-arranged, and non-negotiable time towards growing your company. Don’t make excuses because, if this were your occupation, you wouldn’t make excuses; or you would be unemployed. Punch in, do what you have to do, and punch out.

3. No tracking – he wasn’t keeping track on phone calls, appointments, emails, etc. No company that is interested in genuine sustainable success makes this mistake. Keeping “stats” is central to being able to measure where your strengths and weaknesses are. Most business owners haven’t figured out what their ratios are. Take a peak at this following ratio: 194:13. This is my stat for leads:conversions over the previous 30 days. I know that for ever 14 leads I acquire through my marketing, I’ll convert 1 to a business owner. My goal is to improve my stats by keeping track of everything from articles, emails, videos, phone calls, etc. It doesn’t have to be a mystery as to what it takes to get your company to the next level. “Keeping stats” is what you need in order to find out.

Just because you’re working your MLM enterprise part-time doesn’t mean that you’re excused from being a professional. Take a second look at your commitments to make sure that you’re not fooling yourself and organize yourself for success.

Today’s consumers are inundated with media messages.  We get bombarded from all sides with advertising, so much that we end up tuning out most of it.  This fact isn’t lost on corporations.  They are hungry for new ways to more directly connect with their customers.

These companies are learning that branded photography is an ideal way to create a personal, one-on-one connection with their customers.  And because the connection is created with a photograph, it’s personal, tangible and lasting.

So who’s doing this, and how?  Here’s a round-up of some recent events we’ve produced using branded photography for large corporations.

Verizon

Remember the old phone company’s “Reach out and touch someone” campaign?  Verizon is still living the slogan, using branded photography to create a more personal relationship with their current and potential customers.  They turned to the creative team at Marketing Werks to execute a series of sponsored events that directly reach and involve consumers.

In October, Verizon used green screen photography at an Islanders game to reinforce their support of the Islanders “Stick Kid” program, and create a one-on-one customer experience.  First, to create the green screen background, we went to the Nassau Coliseum and shot the hockey rink when it was empty, and then added the Verizon and “Stick Kids” logos.

The green screen background put people where they usually can’t go, right in center rink – virtually, if not for real.  The photos reinforce Verizon’s community involvement and commitment to the Islanders “Stick Kids” program, as well as their branding.  And as you’ll see, people loved it!

In August, Verizon sponsored an Air Supply concert at the Westbury Music Fair, and gave some concert-goers an opportunity to meet the band backstage – and get their photos taken with them to commemorate the occasion.

For fans of the band, a huge thrill made even more memorable by having a photo of the event.   For Verizon, the pay-off is in goodwill built, and with their logo included on the photos, consistent brand visibility – for years to come.  The branded photography create an immediate association with their brand and this fun experience.  See for yourself!

Marc Ecko and Rolling Stone

Designer Marc Ecko teamed up with Rolling Stone Magazine to launch his new men’s cologne, Ecko by Marc Ecko.  As part of the launch event at Macy*s Roosevelt Field Mall, they offered branded photographs of anyone who purchased the new cologne, putting each customer on the “cover” of Rolling Stone.  Again, branding was reinforced and brand loyalty encouraged by marrying the customer and brand images – a match made in marketing heaven!

HP and Microsoft

You cannot find a more perfect example of linking event marketing with media advertising than the green screen photography we executed for HP, at the launch event for HP and Microsoft 7.  The event was held at the Museum of Natural History, and the green screen image tied into this location as well as the imagery used in HP’s new print ad campaign.  We formatted the image to create maximum play between it and the people photographed, to great effect as you’ll see below.

Who wouldn’t want to keep one of these fun photos around?  Again, brand reinforcement as its best!

These large corporations realize the power of  branded  photography for their events, how it reinforces relationship marketing, experiential marketing, word of mouth marketing, promotional marketing, direct marketing, retail marketing and brand marketing.  They know how to harness this power, and so can you!
