Most professionals I know (and myself) sell information. Both digitally and physically. Things like ebooks, mp3s, and downloadable videos. But you can sell services, physical non-information goods, and anything else you can think of, by using similar tactics.

Your skills you must develop are two fold: marketing and advertising. One can’t thrive without the other. You have to learn to be a great promoter as well as a great salesman. Doesn’t mean you have to sell face-to-face though! You need to be able to sell in print at the very least.

What do I mean by promoting? The skills needed to drive traffic to your website whether through pay-per-click, articles, blogging, videos, mp3s, classified ads, press releases, search engine optimization, joint ventures, list building, and more.

What do I mean by being a salesman? You must learn the proven tactics being used now to sell, the art of persuasion, how to open and close, how to attack the tender part of your prospect’s heart, formatting and style, and other things.

Marketing and advertising. Think about that. Get good at 1) promoting your business, 2) selling products. Everything else stems from the two. Some think of it as “traffic and conversion.” While “marketing and advertising” leaves room for the rest of the game to fit.

So is it easy to run a successful home based internet marketing business? No. There’s a lot of blood, sweat, and tears involved. However, some catch on sooner than others. I know people who’ve been doing it for years and still can’t make a decent part time living. Then again, I know someone personally who in less than a year started making $ 15,000+ a month just sitting in his house.

If you’re cut out for the stuff, then you’ll excel fast. If you’re not, then it’s going to take longer to get good. I wasn’t so much a natural. It took me over a year to start getting my feet wet. I think a lot had to do with my personality, immaturity, and perception of how the world works. Anyway…

What are the start-up costs? You need a URL, web hosting, and an auto-responder. You can get it all for less than $ 200. You’ll have to renew all three when close to expiration. Don’t think you can get into this business without an auto-responder. E-mail marketing is the key to long-term success. An auto-responder service like AWEBER is only around $ 20 per month. It’ll seem like pocket change once you see how much money you’ll make with it (well, no guarantees).

How fast will the money come? Once you study, get good, and apply it, the money will start pouring in. Get enthusiastic! Go ahead and start making your mistakes so you can learn from them!

There is a lot of trial and error online but the important thing is that the internet can be quite forgiving at times. If one method doesn’t work, relook at it from all angles and ask yourself as a consumer, why you wouldn’t respond to it.

I think the most important thing anyone needs is hard work and a bit of advice. It does not good to spend all of your time building backlinks, and then leave no time for adding good content to your blog. Remember, one good blog post is worth several hundred low-PR links. Backlink automation software is a wonderful aid – but that is just what it is an AID – it’s not the be-all to end-all. You still have be smart in how you choose your keywords, how you create your content and how your position your offer or ads to actually make money at the end of the day.

It is not a place to sell yourself, but rather to focus on helping like minded people by sharing your knowledge and experience, and in turn you can glean the knowledge and experience of others who have gone before you. Video marketingOf course we see the YouTube videos every day on the national news channel. Guess what, folks? If you aren’t on YouTube, you are living in the dark ages. Now our next section is what we call the Freebie funnel. So basically our Freebie funnel is comes after our search stream reads our traffic triggers, they click on the link to our site we are going to be brought to a squeeze page which basically has written copy on it. This is where our search stream will read about what we are giving them for free. We persuade them to enter their email address to receive the freebie, they will asses a cost base analysis, They will ask themselves… Is this really worth enough to give my email or contact information. If they enter their information the squeeze page has done its job, traffic trigger have done the job.

Now this freebie could be anything from a special report, exclusive video, maybe some free software that’s going to help them get some more information, or we are helping solve a problem, or they are going to learn something new from whatever information they are looking for. Now in this freebie industry people like to call it the bait or list bait, A friend of mine, Sterling Valentine likes to call this process “Tease and Squeeze” which is basically what we are doing on this page in creating freebie for the contact information.

So once the search stream has entered their contact information, they are accepting and becoming a member of our list which is the most important sale of our blueprint. So basically, we are in the list building phase. List building is a pre-sale which is very critical to the whole outline and blueprint. If you are sending people straight to your sales page, you are missing the list building section. If you send someone as a referral to a sale page and they decide not to buy that day then we have lost that potential customer or person from our list basically forever. And if we send them directly to the product creator’s sales page where they have an email capture and squeeze page, basically we are becoming a list building expert for somebody else and now we no longer have access to them and can’t continue to market to them. When there is a list we can market them forever as long as they are on our list and that is our primary goal here.

Hi there and welcome, I want to show you the internet marketing blueprint that I know is the quickest way proven to turn people on the internet into customers. Now the first stage of our Internet marketing blueprint is what we like to call the Search Stream.

Search Stream is the steady flow of people looking for information about a particular topic or product online. We also know that there are people on the internet every hour of every day looking for information on search topics and different products. Now what we want to focus on is to make sure that our search term is focused on a profitable niche or subject. Now to determine if the search stream is a profitable subject or not, ask yourself.

* If they are willing to spend money on the information * Is there a strong need for this type of information or products * Does this solve some sort of problem * Is there competition in the market place?

I feel that competition is a good thing, sometimes people say that competition is a bad thing, but I think it is going to help us to determine whether it is of a profitable niche or not. As long as the market isn’t saturated too much, we should be able to make profits from this. Research will help us to ensure that it is profitable.

The next section of our Internet marketing blueprint will be called Traffic Triggers.

Traffic triggers are basically anything that you can create to catch attention of the search stream or anybody that’s online. Basically traffic triggers leave breadcrumbs all over the internet with our keyword search terms, which our Search Stream is looking for.

Now these could be articles, blog posts, videos, reports, blog comments, all the same things that we normally do to generate traffic. We need to be very focused on what our search stream is looking for. Now by creating these traffic triggers we will be providing good quality information, which our search stream is looking for. We can persuade them to visit our site to get involved in our lust to gain valuable freedom which we will talk about in a second. Now we will talk about our first sale which is not generally around the product.

What our first sale is going do for us is it is going to start to establish a relationship. By doing this we are going to use a certain point. It is FYI/BTW. So basically when we create our content our former will be the FYI which will be 90% content information and the BTW which is almost like a sales pitch, will give about 10%. So when we talk about FYI examples are “Top 10 sales secrets”, “Are you making these mistakes?”, and we’re going to generate our content around that to create good quality information. When we get to the BTW section we will put something like “If you would like to know more information click here”, and that is what is going to drive traffic to our site. That is traffic triggers.

Research the competition. Researching competition on the internet is incredibly easy! If for instance you have a novel way of refinishing furniture, then just typing the phrase “Refinishing Furniture” into a search engine will reveal how many competitors you have; just a few, thousands or hundreds of thousands!
Again, some very widely available and often free tools will very quickly show you the all important parameter; how much traffic – how many visitors every day or every month – your particular hobby or interest attracts.

Then, and this is the exciting and interesting part – you can learn how to quickly and easily build a niche market and website around a few carefully researched keywords linked to something that you can develop real expertise in; the hobby that has become a business! The most valuable online commodity is information, and if you have the right information….you can sell it!

Don’t worry too much about developing a physical product, unless of course that
is the route that appeals to you. Hobbies are great for allowing the development of tips and strategies type websites – no physical stock and no fuss! You can always refer to companies that do stock physical items; indeed, becoming an affiliate for such companies and earning commission on their sales is incredibly easy and should be one of your main aims. All you have to do is make sure that they come through your site first! That will allow you to develop a list of names of people who are interested in exactly the same things as you are….pure gold, in marketing terms!

By sticking with your hobby and area of expertise, it is surprising how quickly you can become to be viewed as an authority in your chosen field. It is actually true that we acquire more knowledge than we realise when it comes to the hobbies that we love, almost without realising it! A simple test; start talking to a friend, or better still a fellow enthusiast, about modelling railways or whatever it maybe….and note how the time flies by, and how much ground gets covered!
