Unfortunately they soon realize their error in judgment but oftentimes too late leaving them cynical and displeased with the industry as a whole. Remember to use common sense and the old adage that if something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is to good to be true.

Also, when you decide to purchase something from an Internet business, do your due diligence. Should you have any questions or concerns about the product or legitimacy of a company, email the merchant and observe how he/ she responds and how quickly they get back to you. This alone will reveal a lot about the support and integrity of a business.

Lastly, if you can’t find contact or support information on their website this is not a good sign. Simply exit the site and move on at once!

I would check with the Better Business Bureau and find out if there are any complaints connected with this company. You could also search for the product on the Internet and see if there are any articles or blogs regarding this product being a scam. The last product I purchased was a software that helped with Internet marketing. They have customer service. They have a money back guarantee.

I’ve been using the product and so far so good.

What you should know is that even if you do everything I say you could still be fooled. These people are getting more and more crafty. One time I got “customer service” that was an answering machine. Nobody ever called me back. But if you use my tips I think you’ll end up with better companies and better service.

Whenever I produce my mlm success training courses, I always tell my apprentices to make structured commitments and goals by organizing their daily, weekly, and monthly income producing activities, and make sure to track EVERYTHING.

One of my acquaintances on Facebook asked me to assist them to identify why their best efforts seem to be producing very little success in MLM. He was quite angry and ready to toss in the towel by the time he reached out to me.

He is new to MLM, and felt as though he was doing everything that he was told to do to get ahead. He thought that either he was being lied to by his support team (or he wasn’t), or he simply wasn’t cut out for this MLM business (also not true).

So, in the course of our conversation, I was able to determine exactly what was wrong with his efforts, and after I identified where his “holes” were, he was overjoyed to find out that all he had to do was make a few adjustments to his activities and his mental state of mind.

Take a look at these 3 areas that I found that he was doing wrong and make sure that you don’t fall into these traps:

1. Overstated expectations of growth – he felt that he would be an “overnight sensation” because he’s heard stories of how people make tons of revenue in what seems like a very small period of time. This is NOT normal of ANY business, contrary to all the hype. Building a successful MLM business is like planting a seed in the dirt; you can’t plant the seed and then stand over it demanding that it grow. It has to take root, and you have to provide the food and care to make sure it doesn’t die in the soil. It’s not smart to have the get-rich-quick mindset; it takes TIME to build a successful company, and there’s nothing you can do about that but cultivate patience and the right behaviors.

2. Inconsistent activity – he had not developed a schedule of planned activities for his network marketing business success. He just did whatever he could with whatever extra time he could come up with. That’s totally amateurish. Developing “office hours” is pivotal to building consistency, and that can’t be taken lightly. He planted the “seed,” now he needed to organize a regularly scheduled “watering.” If over the course of a week you only have 7-10 hours available, that needs to be a specific, targeted, pre-arranged, and non-negotiable time towards growing your company. Don’t make excuses because, if this were your occupation, you wouldn’t make excuses; or you would be unemployed. Punch in, do what you have to do, and punch out.

3. No tracking – he wasn’t keeping track on phone calls, appointments, emails, etc. No company that is interested in genuine sustainable success makes this mistake. Keeping “stats” is central to being able to measure where your strengths and weaknesses are. Most business owners haven’t figured out what their ratios are. Take a peak at this following ratio: 194:13. This is my stat for leads:conversions over the previous 30 days. I know that for ever 14 leads I acquire through my marketing, I’ll convert 1 to a business owner. My goal is to improve my stats by keeping track of everything from articles, emails, videos, phone calls, etc. It doesn’t have to be a mystery as to what it takes to get your company to the next level. “Keeping stats” is what you need in order to find out.

Just because you’re working your MLM enterprise part-time doesn’t mean that you’re excused from being a professional. Take a second look at your commitments to make sure that you’re not fooling yourself and organize yourself for success.

Solution:  Again, set limits for yourself.  Turn off the “ding” that notifies you when you receive a new e-mail.  Set some time aside in your schedule a couple of times a day to read and respond to e-mail. 

Your downline will be more respectful of your time if you’re accessible but not always available.  And responding to prospects within seconds or minutes just comes across as desperate, if you ask me.

Trap 3:  Trying to Learn Everything at Once

There is so much to learn when it comes to Internet Network Marketing.  Many Network Marketers try to do it all at once–blogging, pay-per-click, forum marketing…the list goes on.  The result is they never become an expert in anything and get dismal results at everything.

Solution:  While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with using more than one method of marketing, you should focus your attention on becoming an expert in one area.  Then once you feel you’ve mastered it, you can move on to the next method and master that as well.

Network Marketers who master a method of marketing before trying something different achieve better results…and they’re a lot less frustrated and burned out as a result!

One should be suspicious of companies that operate only by email. A website is fairly easy to create so why hasn’t this company invested the time to do so? Also, a website leaves a bit more of a trail to a company. If they do end up scamming you, the chances of tracing the people via a website are much better then tracing them through masses of email addresses.

It’s a disease, and it’s an epidemic. MLM “excusitis”.

Common symptoms of MLM excusitis are complaints that you don’t have enough time or money or your upline is an idiot. When faced with this tragic disease it is important to seek help immediately. If not treated immediately this illness can lead to poor, if not dire financial consequences for the rest of your life. If that isn’t bad enough, MLM excusitis is extremely contagious.

99% of the people that fail in MLM suffer from MLM excusitis, and they typically have family and friends that suffer from the same disease. Amazingly enough these people rarely realize that they have it, claiming that it’s not their fault that they have failed.

As times goes on MLM excusitis only gets worse and in most cases will cause the person to quit MLM for life, failing to realize that the only likely cure for their poor financial situation is MLM itself.

Are you willing to work with somebody or do you really want to be the “Lone Ranger”? You’d be amazed at the number of people that fail because they have to do everything the hard way. Do you want success bad enough to follow somebody that actually knows what they’re doing?

There is absolutely no reason you have to suffer from MLM excusitis, but if you are, recognize it and make changes now. Your future can be filled with success.
