7 Tips For Attending Internet Marketing Events

When attending an internet marketing event, course or workshop there are a few things you can do to get the most out of your time to help you learn internet marketing much, much quicker.

Mindset/ Attitude

Having the right mindset is vital. What you think about influences how you feel, what you feel influences how you act, and how you act determines the results you get.

Focus on the outcome

The best thing you could do when attending any internet marketing event is to set yourself a target of what you want to come away with. Don’t focus on “I have to learn a lot”, or “what do I need to learn”. Focus on your outcomes from the course, knowing what to do, how to do it, when to do it. This is a powerful concept in terms of how the mind works; by attending an internet marketing course with this frame of mind will get your radar on alert for the person who can tell you what you need to know.

Come prepared

You must come prepared to any internet marketing course.

A lot of events supply pens and work books but you should bring your own anyway as a back up, take at least one work book preferably two, depending on how many days the course goes for and how big your writing is etc. Different colored pens can stimulate memory retention. Extra tip: If I am using different colored pens I will tend to write out important stuff or gold nuggets in red, action plans and must-do’s in green – you get my drift…

Eat Well

An internet marketing event usually consists of long days, the reason being that there is so much information to cover in a small amount of time.

So in order to get the most of your internet marketing education you should eat well.

Have a big breakfast in the morning consisting of all the stuff the health experts say you should have, like fruit, oats, cereal, whole meal toast etc. This will leave you operating with a mixture of fast and slow release energy sources. Pack into a small bag health snacks, such as fruit, assorted nuts like natural almonds, pepitas, dried cranberries etc. Take bottled water, even though most internet marketing events supply water, you can refill your drink as you need to.

Taking notes

If you are going with a buddy, team up before the event agree to take advantage of having 2 sets of eyes and 2 sets of notes. By this I mean, work out with your buddy that when notes come up on a slide that one notes down from the start, while the other writes from the end. A lot of slide shows are in bullet like form so this technique is very effective. The major benefit of this is at the end of the day you can sit down with your buddy and compare notes, fill in the gaps, discuss ideas, write down solid action plans and get very excited.

Not all people will go with a buddy, but that’s alright because a lot of the speakers or the event organizers will provide a link to get a copy of the slides. Your best bet is to not try to copy down all the notes off the slides but rather comprehend the notes and write down what action step you can do.

Networking

It may be out of your comfort zone, but you will soon learn that networking is what internet marketing is all about. Networking is advantageous for many reasons. For a start, you are in a room with anywhere from 100 up to 1000 like-minded people who all share similar interests. There is the opportunity to follow up with the speakers on any questions you wish to ask, make friendships that can last a lifetime – even find a JV partner. You might find a mentor, and in some cases embark on valuable business opportunities.

You have probably noticed in your life the times when you were most productive, had a great attitude, a good mindset and nothing really bothered you was when you were having fun.
